What's new for the North Harbour?

Progress in the North Harbour has been excellent. The status of work as of 15 July (most will have been completed before month's end)
  • Pile driving and float installation entirely completed
  • Electrical is complete, and the City is awaiting electrical inspection results.
  • Water services are in place and awaiting final testing.
  • Gangway fencing and gate installation is now complete and awaiting lockable passage sets.
  • Handrails have been reinstalled and painted

A quick visit to the waterfront demonstrates the progress in the North Harbour as it comes together for its re-opening, expected mid-June. Right on time, according to the original plan. New floats and all the infrastructure necessary for today's boats will greet North Harbour 'resident's as they move back in. The added moorage means lots more room, especially welcome with today's larger boats.

And for a great view of both the harbour and the waterfront, try out the new walkway all the way out to the tip of the north breakwater. Watch boats launching, or coming in at dusk as the sun sets. It's a nice addition to the area.

Local boaters will already know that the boat ramp has been partially opened since early April. It will become fully open as the project wraps in June.
