What's new for the Wharf area?

Key to the Westview Waterfront is the wharf and surrounding area. This is where the work and changes to the area have been most visible. When completed (by the end of August) we will have:

• The new Spirit Square (already in place at the west end of the wharf)
• Boardwalk along the full perimeter of the area
• New building for the Wharfinger on the southwest corner of the infill area
• Paved area open for public events and activities
• Some new parking
• Benches and areas to simply sit and relax

And the area that used to be Marine Traders (northeast corner) will be open and grassed in the short term. Long term, this area will be available for commercial development.

Now, folks getting off the ferry or sailing in on their own will find a truly welcoming entrance to Westview and Powell River. And for those already here, we can enjoy the comfort and beauty of a wonderful sunset, fish off the end of the wharf or simply stroll an interesting and attractive harbour area.
